Dentures & Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance and a replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue.  They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures - complete and partial dentures.  Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.  A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.

A complete denture can be either “conventional” or “immediate.” with an option to use dental implants as an anchor to secure dentures for patients comfort and stability when chewing and speaking.   A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed (usually takes 4 to 6 weeks).  Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process.  Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will have to be made.

Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.

Reasons for dentures:

  • Complete Denture - Loss of all teeth in an arch.
  • Partial Denture - Loss of several teeth in an arch.
  • Enhancing smile and facial tissues.
  • Improving chewing, speech, and digestion.
What does getting dentures involve?

The process of getting dentures requires several appointments, usually over a period of several weeks.  Highly accurate impressions and measurements are taken and used to create your custom denture.  Several “try-in” appointments may be necessary to ensure proper shape, color, and fit.  At the final appointment, Dr. Chon will precisely adjust and place the completed denture, ensuring a natural and comfortable fit.

It is normal to experience increased saliva flow, some soreness, and possible speech and chewing difficulty, however this will subside as your muscles and tissues get used to the new dentures.

You will be given care instructions for your new dentures.  Proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new dentures.

Testimonials

I had a really bad experience with a dentist a long time ago.... But Dr. Chon changed all that! I only have two words of my experience with Dr. Chon...."THE BOMB".

Jonathon Lopez

Quite simply, Dr. Chon is the BEST! He keeps my teeth healthy and beautiful. I've been a patient for over 10 years and I actually look forward to my office visits. He stays up with the latest dental technology, is caring and fun, and is extremely competent.

I recently had a dental problem and his office staff worked me into the schedule immediately. Not only did Dr. Chon diagnose my problem quickly but took the time to explain exactly what to do to relieve my discomfort. Dr. Chon's wonderful office staff is warm, friendly, and professional. If you're looking for a great dentist, I would highly recommend him.

I never thought in a million years I would be writing a 5-star review for any dentist, but alas here I am. I had such a (literally) painful experience at my old dentist (out of state) that I would have extreme anxiety at the thought of even going to the dentist.

Dr Chon absolutely blew me away right out of the gate with how patient and caring he was. Both him and his wife were aware of my situation and did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable. For someone (like myself) who is terrified of the dentist, I was told the worst news in the world.... That I needed a root canal. I was literally brought to tears, but Dr. Chon assured me it would be okay and that I wouldn't experience any pain. Seeing in the past I got fairly extreme pain during fillings, I was in disbelief. I will never doubt Dr. Chon again. I went through the whole root canal process with NO PAIN. It would be an understatement saying that Dr. Chon has gone above and beyond for me. From wiping away my tears to letting me use his phone to listen to Pandora, he is definitely the best... I will never go anywhere else. Thank you soo much!!!
